Denise Grover Swank

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Denise Grover Swank independently published her first novel in July of 2011. Since then, she’s published books in multiple genres, including mystery, contemporary romance, urban fantasy and young adult. She has successfully navigated independent publishing, publishing with Amazon as publisher, and working with traditional publishers and will be sharing those experiences with us! Join Denise for an inspiring morning on the business and possibilities of publishing.

Sara Megibow

Agent with the KT Literary Agency, Sara has nine years of experience in publishing. She specializes in working with authors in middle grade, young adult, romance, erotica, science fiction and fantasy and represents New York Times bestselling authors Roni Loren and Jason Hough and international bestselling authors Stefan Bachmann and Tiffany Reisz. Sara is LGBTQ-friendly and presents regularly at SCBWI and RWA events around the country.

Not only will Sara will be sharing her experience guiding the careers of authors with us, but she has generously extended an offer to look at 50 pages of our attendees’ books.


The book must complete, in a genre she represents, and submitted within 60 days of the conference ending. 

Sarah M. Anderson

Award-winning author Sarah M. Anderson sold her first book in 2010. Since then, she's written over 25 books for Harlequin and Samhain. Winner of the RT Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Desire in 2012, and a 2016 RWA RITA winner for Best Short Contemporary, Sarah will share her experience with us on crafting quality books quickly in this fast-paced publishing environment.

Holly atkinson

Holly Atkinson was fortunate to receive her first taste in editing when she was thirteen and wrote copy for a local realtor show. In 2012, Holly joined Samhain Publishing, Ltd. as an acquiring content editor, after working as both a line editor and content editor for Lyrical Press and Mundania Press. In 2016, Holly started her own freelance company called Evil Eye Editing, and began a line of author services at ADsmith Marketing and Advertising.

The Ozarks Romance Authors’ Conference, or ORAcon, is held each year in the fall, typically in late September. The event is open to writers and readers of all genres, as the fundamentals of good writing are universal. Join us for invigorating panel discussions and workshops with industry professionals, as well as the opportunity to pitch your novel to visiting agents and editors. Learn new tools of the trade, meet professional local authors, and add new books to your TBR list.

Please Note: While author tables are available, anyone selling books at ORACON will need fill out and submit this form to the State of Missouri to obtain a Missouri retail sales tax license. You will also need to fill out and submit this form to the City of Springfield.
